Setup

Download Sidearm, sign it in to Halo Labs, and set Halo Infinite up so Sitrep reads it accurately.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
  • Halo Infinite on PC in borderless fullscreen, at any resolution or aspect ratio (1080p, 1440p, 4K, ultrawide). Exclusive fullscreen hides overlays.
  • A graphics card that can encode HEVC, for recording (any recent NVIDIA, AMD or Intel GPU).

Installing

Open Sidearm on the rail and choose Get Sidearm, then Download Sidearm for Windows, and run the installer. It installs for your Windows account and puts Sidearm's helmet in the tray; you may need to open the ^ arrow to see it.

  • Updating: Sidearm updates itself, and waits until you're out of the game to do it.
  • Uninstalling: go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Sidearm → Uninstall.

Choose Sign In in Sidearm's window. It shows a code and opens Halo Labs in your browser: sign in with Xbox there and approve the code. See Signing in.

Halo settings

These settings make the kill feed much easier to read. Sitrep checks Halo's settings when it starts, and tells you if one will hurt accuracy.

SettingValueWhy
Accessibility → HUD Opacity1.0Anything lower lets the map show through the letters, so names get misread.
Accessibility → Event Feed Background ModeAllPuts a solid dark bar behind every kill-feed row, which Sitrep reads against.
Accessibility → Event Feed Background Opacity1.0Same reason as above.
Video → Borderless FullscreenOnSitrep can only draw over the game in borderless fullscreen.

First match

  1. Start Halo Infinite. Sitrep starts with it.
  2. Queue a match. Sitrep sees the loading screen and starts a fresh board.
  3. Play. As players die in the kill feed, their pips turn red, then blue with a countdown to their respawn.
  4. Turn on Record Automatically in Sidearm's Recording settings to keep each match as a video.
